The Environmental Justice Fund, established as part of the City of Seattle’s Equity & Environment Agenda, invests in community-led projects that address climate justice and environmental inequities in Seattle. The fund prioritizes projects that empower and protect communities most affected by climate change—specifically Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), immigrants, refugees, youth, elders, and low-income residents. Funded projects may focus on developing community leadership, supporting grassroots climate or environmental solutions, providing training and exposure to climate careers, and building resilience to protect health and community wellbeing. The program emphasizes centering community voices, building trust, growing leadership, and strengthening collaboration at the neighborhood level.
