Description
The Environmental Science Fellowships at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) provide in-residence research opportunities for graduate students, predoctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and senior investigators. Fellows conduct independent research utilizing SERC’s extensive facilities and resources, collaborating with Smithsonian research staff. Research areas include biodiversity, conservation, ecosystem ecology, biological invasions, environmental pollution, global change, parasite and disease ecology, watersheds, and land use. For this cycle, special emphasis is placed on postdoctoral proposals examining fauna outside the United States, including species interactions and environmental factors.
Fellows benefit from access to SERC’s advanced laboratory facilities, field sites, and a vibrant research community. The program encourages interdisciplinary and globally relevant projects, and supports both U.S. and international applicants.
