This opportunity aims to strengthen the public health infrastructure of Tribal Epidemiology Centers (TECs), Tribes, Tribal Organizations, Urban Indian organizations, and Intertribal Consortiums that support American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities. The program is designed to help these entities fulfill the seven core functions of TECs as outlined in the Indian Health Care Improvement Act (IHCIA) at 25 U.S.C. 1621m(b). The Indian Health Service (IHS) intends to fund enough TECs to serve all 12 IHS administrative areas and the Urban Indian population as a consolidated area. Applicants may propose activities beyond the required functions but must address all mandatory components.
