    Description

The Epilepsy Research Program (ERP) funds high-impact, innovative research aimed at understanding the mechanisms, epidemiology, and progression of post-traumatic epilepsy (PTE), as well as developing novel tools and technologies for its prevention, diagnosis, and management. The program prioritizes research that improves quality of life for Service Members, Veterans, caregivers, and the broader epilepsy community. Areas of interest include biomarker discovery, biological mechanisms of epileptogenesis, epidemiological studies, longitudinal tracking of PTE outcomes, and the creation of new research methodologies and technologies. The ERP encourages collaborative, multidisciplinary approaches and offers opportunities for both established and early-career investigators—including structured mentorship within a virtual research center environment.
