    Description

This opportunity, funded by the Department of Defense's Epilepsy Research Program (ERP) and administered by the U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA), seeks to develop new investigators in the field of post-traumatic epilepsy (PTE). Selected faculty will join the Virtual Post-Traumatic Epilepsy Research Center (ViP-TERC), a unique, interactive virtual center offering intensive mentoring, networking, and collaboration. The program aims to expand the quality and quantity of PTE research by supporting impactful projects and robust career development in a collaborative environment.

The program emphasizes career development alongside research excellence, requiring each applicant to designate a Career Guide (mentor) with a strong record of mentorship, funding, and publication. Research supported may span basic, preclinical, or clinical observational studies (clinical trials are not allowed), and must address at least one of the ERP’s focus areas, such as PTE biomarkers, mechanisms, epidemiology, longitudinal progression, or innovative tools/technologies.
