This program provides competitive grants to eligible institutions of higher education and state cooperative extension systems to acquire shared-use, special-purpose equipment or instruments. The goal is to strengthen and expand fundamental and applied research in food and agricultural sciences by enabling access to equipment that is often too costly or not suitable for other NIFA programs. The emphasis is on equipment that will broadly benefit researchers, educators, and extension specialists within and outside the applicant organization.
