The Equity Fund, administered by the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, is dedicated to supporting projects that are led by and/or holistically serve Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) in the Berkshire Taconic region. This includes but is not limited to African Americans, members of the African Diaspora, Native Americans, Latine, Asian and Pacific Islander, Arab and Middle Eastern communities, and other persons of color. The fund centers those most impacted by racialized injustice and systemic exclusion, supporting both BIPOC-led organizations and those deeply embedded and co-creating with communities of color.
Grantmaking is participatory, with funding decisions made by a Leadership Advisory Committee composed of community members. The Equity Fund prioritizes high-impact, community-centered projects aligned with advancing racial justice, economic empowerment, educational equity, health equity, leadership development, and cultural heritage. Both nonprofits and individuals (for micro grants) may apply, provided their work is rooted in and accountable to the region’s BIPOC communities.
