The Society for Latin American Studies (SLAS) provides Events Grants for seminars, conferences and other events that advance the Society’s objectives and appeal to a considerable number of its members. Supported formats include one-day workshops, multi-day conferences, seminar series held over a year at one academic institution, and online events. The scheme prioritises originality, a feasible and coherent programme, and contributions to promoting Latin American Studies within the host institution or locality.
SLAS encourages sustainable event planning in line with its Climate Action Plan. Applicants should consider the resources used by universities and venues and include more sustainable budget options, even when these cost more than basic alternatives. Costs related to caring responsibilities, including childcare provision, can also be included.
