This funding opportunity supports the development of an Experiential Master Plan for the Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary and its partner communities. The plan will serve as a comprehensive tool to design seamless, engaging visitor experiences—integrating digital and physical spaces, highlighting the region’s maritime heritage, and connecting the four principal communities along the sanctuary’s coastline. The plan must build on the sanctuary’s 2023 Facility Strategy report, utilize technology to engage visitors, include visually compelling materials to support fundraising and public outreach, and ensure interpretive content that reflects the ecological and cultural significance of Lake Michigan, including Indigenous perspectives. The completed plan should provide actionable, phased strategies for implementation and foster a cohesive narrative to promote tourism, recreation, and education across the region.
