Description
The Fairground and Community Resilience Centers Program, administered by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), funds major infrastructure improvements at community centers across California. The program aims to enhance the state's capacity to respond to emergencies—such as wildfires, floods, extreme heat, and power outages—by upgrading facilities to serve as evacuation centers, shelters, and community resource hubs. Eligible projects may include the construction or retrofit of kitchens, sanitation and shower facilities, cooling and heating centers, clean air centers, broadband, backup power, and other critical infrastructure. The program prioritizes projects that serve disadvantaged or disadvantaged unincorporated communities, with the goal of improving both short-term emergency response and long-term community resilience.
