Description
The Family Support Award at UCSF is designed to provide supplemental funding to faculty researchers who are experiencing significant but temporary family caregiving responsibilities that impact their ability to maintain research productivity. The award helps bridge gaps in research activity by supporting preliminary data collection, PI salary for research or grant writing, and research personnel or materials. It specifically targets faculty with intensive caregiving needs—such as caring for an ill child, elderly parent, partner, or other loved one—enabling them to sustain and extend their research programs during challenging periods. Applicants are expected to describe their caregiving circumstances and how the award will help mitigate the impact on their research.
