The Farmer-Led Trials Program, offered by the Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF), empowers organic and transitioning farmers and ranchers in the U.S. to lead practical, on-farm research addressing their unique production challenges. The program provides a modest stipend and extensive technical assistance, guiding participants through the design, implementation, data collection, analysis, and communication of their research findings. Projects may address a range of topics including pest and disease management, soil health, cover crops, weed suppression, variety and seed trials, and organic livestock management. The program aims to build farmer research capacity, foster innovation, and share results openly to advance resilient and sustainable organic agriculture.
