Description
The Nebraska Council on Developmental Disabilities (NCDD), within DHHS’s Division of Public Health, funds innovative projects addressing gaps and barriers in supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. The program advances advocacy, capacity building, and systemic change that promote self-determination, independence, productivity, safety, and full participation in community life.
Projects must address a Council State Plan goal and objective concerning community inclusion or advocacy, leadership, and information access. Focus areas include housing, home and community-based services, employment, Medicaid navigation, professional training, emergency events, policy advocacy, self-advocacy, lived-experience leadership, youth transition, and information access. Activities may collect personal stories or survey data, recommend systems improvements, or develop handbooks and training curricula. Community participation and sustaining project benefits beyond the award are central considerations.
