The William P. Clements Center for Southwest Studies at Southern Methodist University offers residential research fellowships for junior and senior scholars in the humanities or social sciences. These fellowships support the completion of book-length projects focused on Texas, the American Southwest (including California in all periods), or the U.S.-Mexico borderlands. The program is designed to provide scholars with uninterrupted time, a supportive intellectual community, and resources to bring major works to completion. The fellowship includes a nine-month residency in Dallas, research and travel allowances, publication subvention, and a manuscript workshop for peer feedback. Fellows are expected to participate fully in the intellectual and social life of the Center.
