Description
The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs, funds services for youth returning to their communities from juvenile residential or correctional facilities. The program aims to improve youth outcomes and public safety by reducing recidivism following release.
Category 1 supports government-led partnerships providing comprehensive services for moderate- to high-risk youth before, during, and after release. Category 2 supports nonprofit-led community programs that provide transitional services and pre- and post-release case management. Both categories emphasize coordination among corrections agencies, supervision agencies, service providers, and community organizations.
