Description
This opportunity funds projects that reduce fish mortality and prevent fish from entering water supply systems due to irrigation withdrawals in the Pacific Ocean drainage areas of California, Idaho, western Montana, Oregon, and Washington. The program supports the development, improvement, or installation of fish screens, fish passage devices, and related features, as well as inventories and planning activities. The goal is to restore aquatic connectivity, improve ecosystem resiliency, and support sustainable fish populations through voluntary, partner-driven projects.
The program is administered by the National Fish Passage Program (NFPP) under the Fish and Aquatic Conservation Program (FAC), which provides technical and financial assistance to partners. Projects must be voluntary and cannot be used to fulfill federal or state regulatory mitigation requirements.
