    Description

The Food for Progress (FFPr) Program is the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s flagship agricultural development initiative for emerging and developing economies. It provides U.S. agricultural commodities to eligible countries, which are then monetized (sold) in local markets. The proceeds are used to fund projects that support agricultural productivity growth and expand trade of agricultural products, both domestically and internationally.

The program targets countries committed to introducing or expanding free enterprise in the agricultural sector. FFPr projects can address a wide range of topics, including:

    • Improving access to competitive markets for farmers
    • Promoting market-driven pricing and incentives
    • Ensuring timely availability of inputs (seed, fertilizer, pesticides)
    • Facilitating adoption of appropriate technologies
    • Developing infrastructure and distribution systems for perishable products

Projects are expected to advance two overarching objectives:

    1. Increase agricultural productivity
    2. Expand trade of agricultural products

Applicants may propose work in one of the FFPr FY25 priority countries (Kenya, Colombia, Vietnam, Ethiopia) or submit for other non-priority countries with strong justification.
