The National Cancer Institute will soon invite applications to enhance and advance emerging informatics technologies that improve data use across cancer research, emphasizing user engagement, innovation, and impact.
Funder: National Institutes of Health
Due Dates: October 19, 2026 (Full application)
Funding Amounts: $50,000–$600,000 per award; total program funding approx. $2.6M; expected 3 awards
Summary: Supports advanced development and dissemination of emerging informatics technologies to enhance data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation for cancer research and management.
This funding opportunity supports the advanced development, enhancement, and broad dissemination of emerging informatics technologies that improve the acquisition, analysis, visualization, and interpretation of data across the cancer research continuum. It is part of the NCI’s Informatics Technology for Cancer Research (ITCR) Program and is intended for informatics technologies that have moved beyond initial prototyping, demonstrated significant potential impact, and require further development to achieve broader adoption in cancer research.
Projects should focus on tools that are user-friendly and have the potential to advance cancer biology, treatment, diagnosis, early detection, risk assessment, prevention, control, and epidemiology. Successful proposals must clearly articulate the need for the proposed technology, its advantages over existing solutions, and include mechanisms for ongoing user feedback, outreach, and training. Plans should also detail realistic timelines and milestones for technology advancement.
