This grant provides pathology residents the opportunity to participate in a four-week immersive training rotation at an ACGME Accredited Forensic Fellowship Training Program. The experience is designed to address the ongoing physician shortage in forensic pathology by equipping participants with practical skills and mentorship. Residents receive hands-on instruction in forensic pathology, exposure to postmortem imaging, toxicology, ancillary testing, death scene investigation, and death certification. The program is supported by the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME), and the NAME Foundation, and aims to foster a deeper understanding of the essential public health role of forensic pathology.
