This grant supports pathology residents in the United States or Canada to complete a four-week away rotation at an ACGME Accredited Forensic Fellowship Training Program. The experience is designed to provide hands-on instruction in forensic pathology, including exposure to postmortem imaging, toxicology, ancillary testing, death scene investigation, and death certification. Awardees are mentored to encourage careers in forensic pathology, addressing a critical workforce shortage and supporting public health through enhanced forensic casework capabilities.
Training is scheduled between 2027 and the end of Q1 2028, with the specific rotation dates determined by the awardee and host site. The program is supported by the College of American Pathologists Foundation with contributions from the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the National Association of Medical Examiners, and the NAME Foundation.
