Supports projects that build capacity in Sierra Leone and strengthen ties with the U.S. in areas such as entrepreneurship, governance, academic linkages, and human rights.

Projects must begin after October 1, 2025, and end by September 30, 2026.

--- ## Description This program provides small grants to individuals, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and governmental entities in Sierra Leone to implement projects that build local capacity and foster connections with the United States. The focus is on sustainable, impactful activities that support U.S. priorities and help Sierra Leoneans advance independently after the grant period. Projects must clearly incorporate a U.S. link—such as expertise, curriculum, or cultural exchange—and align with designated priority themes. Priority areas include: - Entrepreneurship (including financial literacy and expanding credit access) - Academic linkages - Accountable and transparent governance - Ending discrimination and/or violence against women - Combating trafficking in persons - Fair trade promotion - Protection of intellectual property rights Sample activities may include train-the-trainer programs, workshops, cultural exchanges with U.S. institutions, resource creation, and network development. --- ## Due Dates - **Full proposal deadline:** June 27, 2025, 5:00 pm UTC (Sierra Leone Time) - **Project start date:** No earlier than October 1, 2025 - **Project completion date:** By September 30, 2026 *All dates are projected based on the annual cycle; check the program page for updates.* --- ## Funding Amount - **Award range:** $1,500 to $10,000 per project - **Total expected program funding:** $30,000 (subject to availability) - **Expected number of awards:** Up to 3 - **Project period:** 1 to 12 months No cost sharing or matching is required, though cost share may be considered in the case of tie-breakers. --- ## Eligibility Eligible applicants include: - Not-for-profit organizations (including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations) - Public and private educational institutions - Individuals - Public international organizations and governmental institutions **Additional notes:** - Organizations must have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) and be registered in [SAM.gov](https://sam.gov/) (individuals are exempt). - Each organization may submit only one proposal; multiple submissions will render all proposals ineligible. - Projects must be implemented in Sierra Leone and must not include activities in the U.S. or its territories. --- ## Application Process 1. **Prepare proposal** (maximum 4 pages) using the required [application template](https://api.atomgrants.com/storage/v1/object/public/grants3-sources/2025SmallGrantsApplicationForm.docx).
