The Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Awards support U.S. scholars to undertake teaching, research, or a combination of both at institutions across India. The program welcomes projects in all academic and professional fields, with particular encouragement for proposals aligned with U.S.–India strategic interests such as critical minerals, defense, energy security, science and research collaboration, space cooperation, and technology and innovation. Scholars may propose their own host institutions and determine the balance between teaching and research activities. The program’s mission is to foster mutual understanding and academic collaboration between the United States and India, with opportunities for scholars to engage in curriculum development, mentoring, public talks, and community outreach.
