This prestigious award offers U.S. scholars the opportunity to spend four months at the University of Vienna's Faculty of Social Sciences, engaging in a flexible combination of teaching and research. Recipients will teach at least two courses (each meeting once a week for 90 minutes) and may advise or supervise advanced students. The specific format and content of courses, as well as research objectives, are negotiated with the host institution to align with both the grantee's expertise and the university's needs. Scholars are expected to contribute to the Fulbright Program’s mission of international understanding by giving public talks, mentoring students, and engaging with the local community. The award particularly encourages interdisciplinary collaboration across departments such as communication, political science, anthropology, sociology, science and technology studies, nursing science, development studies, and demography.
