The Continuum of Care (CoC) Program and Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) provide significant federal funding to advance a community-wide commitment to ending homelessness. These programs support nonprofit organizations, state and local governments, Indian Tribes and tribally designated housing entities, and public housing agencies in rapidly rehousing individuals and families experiencing homelessness—including those fleeing domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking—and youth up to age 24. The YHDP specifically focuses on developing and implementing coordinated community approaches to prevent and end youth homelessness.
Funding can be used for a range of eligible activities, including permanent housing, transitional housing, supportive services, and Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS). The FY 2026 competition offers expanded opportunities for new and renewal projects, including set-asides for transitional housing and supportive service-only projects.
