Description
This opportunity funds projects that advance the technological capability and promote the deployment of intelligent transportation system (ITS) applications for commercial motor vehicle (CMV) operations. The program aims to:
- Improve the safety and productivity of CMVs and commercial drivers.
- Support and maintain state-level CMV information systems and networks that link to federal safety information systems.
- Reduce operational and regulatory costs for CMV operations through the use of innovative technology.
Eligible projects include the deployment of new advanced technology solutions, planning activities (such as developing or updating program design plans), and operation or maintenance of CMV information systems and networks. Example activities include electronic credentialing, real-time safety data exchange, electronic screening, and data quality improvements.

Eligibility
- Eligible Applicants:
- State governments
- The District of Columbia
- Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands
- Ineligible: Individuals and businesses are not eligible to apply or receive funding.
- Other Requirements:
- Applicants must have an approved Commercial Motor Vehicle Information Systems and Networks Program Plan/Top Level Design (PP/TLD) or demonstrate coordination with the state’s ITD lead agency.
- Applicants must certify that their projects are consistent with national ITS architectures and standards, and promote interoperability.
- Compliance with Title VI and other federal civil rights requirements is mandatory.
