This grant, administered by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), is designed to help select Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) implement the Appleseeds suite of evidence-based instructional materials for foundational reading skills in Kindergarten through Grade 2. Funding supports both the purchase of consumable student materials and professional learning for educators, leaders, and literacy coaches, delivered through DESE-approved Appleseeds professional development providers. The program prioritizes equity, excellence, and culturally sustaining literacy practices, aiming for meaningful and sustainable adoption of Appleseeds materials in participating districts.
