Description
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) administers this state-funded program to carry out public school earmarks in the FY27 state budget. Under Fund Code 2518, the funding supplements activities and projects designated for individual recipients rather than supporting a single statewide project or subject area. DESE’s Strategy, Monitoring and Compliance/Federal Grant Programs unit manages the program.
The earmarks cover work such as special education costs, curriculum and technology purchases, student mental health services, transportation, after-school programming, career-connected learning, and school facility improvements. Each recipient’s allocation and associated legislative language determine the work supported. The eligible-entity list includes public school districts, regional and vocational technical districts, and specifically named charter schools.
