Description
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) administers this program to carry out state legislative earmarks for public school districts in the FY27 state budget. The funding supports designated educational improvement activities through four accounts: fund codes 0005, 0006, 7061, and 9611. Each recipient’s earmark language determines the supported work, rather than a single shared project model.
The allocations cover school security improvements in Hopedale, education costs for children of retired-military families in Lincoln, academic support and family engagement in Natick, and literacy programming in Winchester. DESE’s Strategy, Monitoring, and Compliance/Federal Grants unit administers the program. The Request for Proposal (RFP) is the governing document for these funds, with the associated budget language defining each earmark’s use.
