This opportunity provides funding for early action safety work as part of the San Diego At-grade Crossing Elimination Study (SD ACES), funded through the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) Program. The SD ACES project focuses on analyzing potential grade separations and alternative alignments at eleven at-grade rail crossings within a major transportation corridor in and near downtown San Diego, California. The goal is to reduce preventable fatalities and injuries by identifying and planning for improvements at these high-risk crossings, including Washington Street, which is ranked first in San Diego County for predicted yearly collisions. The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) will use the funding to hire a contractor to conduct a detailed planning study and identify early action safety measures.
