Description
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Aquatic Resources Program funds projects that support the conservation, restoration, and management of riparian and wetland areas, aquatic habitats, and water resources on BLM-managed public lands. The program aims to balance diverse uses—such as mineral, food, timber, and fiber production, wildlife habitat, recreation, and long-term resource sustainability—while ensuring water quality and quantity for beneficial uses.
Projects may focus on:
- Decision support for environmental reviews and permitting,
- Aquatic invasive species management,
- Habitat improvements for fish and wildlife,
- Restoration of degraded water resources and aquatic ecosystems.
Collaboration with federal, state, tribal, local governments, and non-governmental partners is emphasized. Projects must demonstrate clear public benefit and align with BLM’s multiple-use and sustained yield mission.
