--- ## Description This opportunity from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) funds projects that advance the conservation and recovery of endangered, threatened, and BLM sensitive species (collectively, "special status species") and their habitats across BLM-managed public lands. The program aims to ensure balanced and diverse land uses while meeting national needs for energy, minerals, timber, recreation, and wildlife habitat. Funded activities are expected to help recover listed species, preclude new listings, streamline permitting processes, and improve data for regulatory decision-making. Proposals should focus on proactive conservation, habitat restoration, monitoring, research, and public outreach related to special status species. Projects must demonstrate public benefit and align with BLM and Department of Interior priorities, such as streamlining permitting and reducing regulatory requirements. Applicants are strongly encouraged to address state-specific priorities, as listed in the NOFO, and must indicate the state(s) where their project will take place. --- ## Due Dates - Application period: June 23, 2025 – July 23, 2025 - Applications must be submitted via [Grants.gov](https://www.grants.gov/search-results-detail/359787) by 5:00 p.m. ET on July 23, 2025. - Anticipated project start date: September 1, 2025 - Maximum project end date: September 30, 2030 --- ## Funding Amount - Estimated total program funding: $4,500,000 - Expected number of awards: ~30 - Award ceiling: $1,000,000 per project - Award floor: $25,000 per project - Project period: Up to 5 years (maximum through September 30, 2030) - Cost sharing/matching: Not required --- ## Eligibility Eligible applicants include: - State governments - County governments - City or township governments - Public and state-controlled institutions of higher education - Native American tribal governments (federally recognized) - Native American tribal organizations (other than federally recognized tribal governments) - Nonprofits with or without 501(c)(3) status (excluding institutions of higher education) - Private institutions of higher education **Not eligible:** - Individuals - For-profit organizations **Additional notes:** - Youth Conservation Corps are only eligible under a separate NOFO (15.243). - Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) partners may apply under their master agreement, with a capped indirect cost rate of 17.5% if consistent with the CESU purpose. - Proposals must specify the state where the project is located. --- ## Application Process 1. **Register Early:** Applicants must be registered in SAM.gov and have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI).
