Description
This grant program funds projects that support the implementation of bilateral cultural property agreements or emergency import restrictions between the United States and 30 partner countries. The goal is to protect cultural property from looting, theft, and trafficking, in line with U.S. obligations under the UNESCO 1970 Convention and the Convention on Cultural Property Implementation Act. Projects should address clear needs in the country or region and support U.S. foreign policy objectives.
Eligible activities include training for law enforcement and cultural property managers, creation and maintenance of digital inventories, site security and protection measures, and public education/outreach to prevent crime. The program is administered through U.S. embassies in eligible countries.
