Description
This funding opportunity from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) supports projects that inventory, mitigate, and restore abandoned mine lands and address hazardous materials on BLM-administered lands. The program’s goals are to protect public health and safety, restore watersheds for recreation and wildlife, manage air quality, and return lands to productive uses such as habitat, recreation, and cultural resource preservation. Projects may include site inventories, risk assessments, physical hazard mitigation (e.g., fencing, signage, backfilling, installation of bat-friendly grates), environmental remediation, and restoration actions. Partnerships with state, local, and tribal governments, educational institutions, and nonprofits are encouraged.
