This funding opportunity provides substantial support to designated state, local, tribal, and other governmental entities for the development and acquisition of law enforcement equipment, technologies, and interoperable communications systems. The goal is to assist agencies in responding to and preventing crime, while expanding the implementation of community policing initiatives. This is a noncompetitive, invitational program: only those entities specifically identified in the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Joint Explanatory Statement (JES) for the relevant appropriations act are eligible to apply. Funded projects must align with the requirements set forth in the JES and are expected to comply with standards from the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Office of Law Enforcement Standards where applicable.
