The Preparing for Active Shooter Situations (PASS) program, administered by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office), provides funding to deliver nationally recognized, scenario-based training. Special priority is given to School Resource Officers funded through the COPS Hiring Program, with a focus on active shooter preparedness and response in primary and secondary schools. The program advances the objectives of the Protecting Our Lives by Initiating COPS Expansion (POLICE) Act of 2016 by offering scenario-based, integrated response courses.
