Description
This program, administered by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) at the U.S. Department of Justice, aims to advance community policing by supporting state, local, territorial, and tribal law enforcement agencies with training and resources. The funding opportunity focuses on enhancing crisis response training for law enforcement to promote safer outcomes during police encounters, particularly with individuals experiencing mental or behavioral health crises, disabilities, or other vulnerabilities. Funding is available for implementing or expanding training in de-escalation tactics, crisis intervention, and making effective referrals to community-based services, as well as integrating these concepts into academy and state-level training curricula.
