The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE), through its Office of Rural Education and Innovation, funds registered teaching apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeships in rural Georgia. Part of the Department of Labor’s Apprenticeship Building America Grant, this opportunity addresses educator shortages by strengthening teacher pipelines. Georgia’s paraprofessional-to-teacher apprenticeship pathway allows candidates to earn a salary and gain mentored, on-the-job experience while working toward a bachelor’s degree and teaching certification.
Funding supports program development and expansion, including related instruction, mentorship, and supportive services. It also supports teaching pre-apprenticeships and the expansion of Teaching as a Profession and Early Childhood Education pathways in rural high schools. These pathways give students industry exposure, practical skills, and a route into registered teaching apprenticeships after graduation.
