The GAIN Program, administered by South Carolina EPSCoR/IDeA, is designed to empower early career faculty at South Carolina’s Comprehensive Research Universities (Clemson University, Medical University of South Carolina, and University of South Carolina-Columbia) to conduct innovative, high-impact research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, life and social sciences, and bioengineering. As part of the broader ADAPT in SC initiative, GAIN supports fundamental research, education, workforce development, and industry/clinical partnerships to drive breakthroughs in biomedical device innovation and AI-enabled healthcare solutions. The program encourages collaboration with clinicians and industry partners and focuses on four research themes: Biomedical AI, Explainable AI-enabled Devices, Deep Learning Imaging Models, and Digital Twin-enabled Rehabilitation Technologies.
