--- ## Description The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) intends to launch a funding opportunity to support the establishment of Centers for Genomics Research Capacity Building. These centers will be hosted at biomedical research institutions awarding doctorate degrees in health professions or health-related sciences, with limited prior NIH funding (less than $50 million/year in total NIH support and less than $25 million/year in R01 support, averaged over the past three fiscal years). Each award will fund a multi-investigator, interdisciplinary team to develop 2–3 interrelated, innovative genomics research projects. Funded projects should address critical topics such as genomic technology and methods, genome structure and function, genomics of disease, clinical implementation of genomic information, genomic data science, computational genomics, ethical/legal/social implications (ELSI), and genomics and health outcomes. A key goal is to expand the pool of scientists and clinician scientists capable of conducting innovative genomics research by providing integrated didactic, practicum, and research experiences. Collaborative applications that integrate expertise in genomics with computational science, epidemiology, biology, clinical care, ELSI, and implementation science are encouraged.
