--- ## Description This program supports innovative, fundamental research on the processes that shape and modify Earth's landscapes, with an emphasis on the Holocene epoch. Projects may address geomorphic, biologic, climatic, and tectonic influences, as well as human impacts. The program encourages quantitative investigations involving fieldwork, modeling, experimentation, theoretical development, or combinations thereof. A strong emphasis is placed on broadening participation from underrepresented groups, including women, persons with disabilities, underrepresented minorities, and veterans, as well as those from geographically underrepresented areas in STEM. Collaborative, multidisciplinary, and convergence research is welcomed, and projects that integrate justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) activities are encouraged. --- ## Due Dates - Proposals accepted at any time (no fixed deadline) - Proposals submitted under other NSF solicitations (e.g., CAREER, EAR Postdoctoral Fellowships, MCA) must meet their respective deadlines. --- ## Funding Amount - Estimated total annual program funding: ~$7,640,100 (subject to availability) - Expected number of awards: 30–40 per year - Individual award size and duration vary based on project scope and quality - Standard or continuing grants --- ## Eligibility - **Who May Apply:** - U.S. institutions of higher education (two- and four-year, including community colleges) accredited in the U.S. and acting on behalf of their faculty members. - Non-profit, non-academic organizations (e.g., independent museums, observatories, research labs, professional societies) in the U.S. associated with educational or research activities. - **International Branch Campuses:** Proposals involving international branches of U.S. institutions must justify the need for activities at the international site. - **PI/Co-PI Restrictions:** None; no limits on the number of proposals per organization or per investigator. - **Resubmission Policy:** Proposals declined by the Division of Earth Sciences are not eligible for resubmission for one year from the original submission date and must be substantially revised (exceptions require prior approval). --- ## Application Process - **Submission Platforms:** Proposals must be submitted via [Research.gov](https://www.research.gov/) or [Grants.gov](https://www.grants.gov/).
