Description
The Georgia Outdoor Learning Demonstration (GOLD) Grant is offered by the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE), in collaboration with the Environmental Education Alliance (EEA). Funded through an appropriation from the Georgia General Assembly, the program supports new outdoor learning initiatives and the revitalization or expansion of existing opportunities for Georgia’s PK–12 public school students.
GOLD aims to increase the frequency and quality of outdoor learning while promoting equitable access throughout the state. Supported work includes educator professional learning, schoolyard improvements, student supplies and equipment, and field trips involving nature engagement or environmental investigations. The program reflects the academic, health, and problem-solving benefits of outdoor learning and originated from a recommendation of the bipartisan Georgia Senate Study Committee on Outdoor Learning.
