The NSF Geosciences Research (GEO Core) program funds foundational research that expands the frontiers of knowledge in the atmospheric, geospace, earth, and ocean sciences. Through its three core divisions—Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences, Earth Sciences, and Ocean Sciences—the program invites proposals that deepen our understanding of Earth's systems, from the atmosphere and near-Earth space to the solid earth and oceans. The program encourages multidisciplinary and transformative research, with a focus on advancing scientific discovery rather than immediate applications or commercialization. NSF welcomes projects that challenge prevailing paradigms, develop new theories or methods, and leverage emerging technologies.
