Funder: National Institutes of Health
Due Dates (Anticipated): November 2026
Funding Amounts: Award amount not specified; duration and total funding depend on NIH appropriations and program priorities.
Summary: Funds collaborative research on brain and nervous system disorders across the lifespan, with a focus on partnerships between U.S. and low- and middle-income country (LMIC) institutions.
Key Information: At least one U.S. and one LMIC institution must partner on each application.
This program, led by the Fogarty International Center in partnership with multiple NIH institutes, aims to catalyze and strengthen collaborative research addressing brain and nervous system disorders across the lifespan. The focus is on leveraging the unique scientific contexts of low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to advance knowledge and develop innovative, cost-effective interventions that benefit both global and U.S. health. The initiative supports a wide spectrum of neuro-health research—including neurological, neuromuscular, sensory, neuropsychiatric, neuroinfectious, cognitive, behavioral, and neurodevelopmental diseases—using basic, clinical, translational, and implementation science approaches. Projects must foster meaningful collaborations between U.S. and LMIC scientists.
