Description
This opportunity aims to address critical public health workforce (PHW) development needs and strengthen the capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to diseases worldwide. The focus is on building and enhancing epidemiological workforce and program capacity at the global level through close collaboration among programs, regional networks, and relevant partners. Recent outbreaks such as COVID-19 and Ebola have highlighted the necessity for robust global and regional programs that can coordinate and share resources effectively.
Key activities include supporting Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETP), networking among workforce development programs, organizing training and scientific events, establishing standards (including accreditation and credentialing), and strengthening monitoring, evaluation, and communication. Awardees will collaborate with the CDC and other stakeholders to assess workforce needs, develop plans to address gaps, enhance existing programs, and provide technical assistance as needed.
