    Description

The Samsung Global Research Outreach (GRO) Program is an annual international initiative designed to build collaborative partnerships between Samsung and leading universities worldwide. Since 2009, the program has invited university researchers to propose innovative research projects that align with Samsung’s strategic R&D directions. Selected projects receive one-year funding and the opportunity to work closely with Samsung’s R&D teams, with the potential for annual renewal based on project outcomes and ongoing alignment with Samsung’s research goals. Joint proposals from multiple universities are welcome, but the lead institution will serve as the main contract party.

The GRO Program is highly competitive and targets breakthrough ideas in areas critical to Samsung’s future technology portfolio. In 2025, the program is seeking proposals in six broad research themes, including AI, quantum computing, semiconductor materials, metrology, catalysts, and sustainability technologies.
