Description
The Grant Opportunities for Academic Liaison with Industry (GOALI) program aims to stimulate university-industry partnerships by providing project funding, fellowships, and traineeships to support diverse collaborations between academia and industry. The program is designed to:
- Enable faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students to conduct research and gain experience in industrial settings.
- Bring industry scientists and engineers into academic environments to share expertise and foster collaboration.
- Support interdisciplinary teams for research projects that bridge academic and industrial expertise.
GOALI emphasizes high-risk/high-gain projects, fundamental research, innovative approaches to generic problems, the development of collaborative educational programs, and the direct transfer of new knowledge between academe and industry. Projects should be transformative and address research areas that industry would not typically fund independently.
