Description
The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation offers Fellowships to exceptional individuals pursuing scholarship in any field of knowledge and creation in any art form. This mid-career award supports work across more than 50 fields in the creative arts, humanities, natural sciences, social sciences, and interdisciplinary studies. The annual competition considers both notable past accomplishments and the promise of future work.
The Fellowship is not a lifetime achievement award: it challenges recipients to take their practice to the next level. Free inquiry, original thought, and intellectual autonomy are central to the program. Fellows are encouraged to explore, change direction, and take risks while pursuing the work they consider most meaningful, under the freest possible conditions.
