Summary: Supports basic through translational research accelerating drug discovery and therapeutic development for hearing restoration after military-relevant auditory injury.
Key Information: Clinical trials, tinnitus, and vestibular research are not eligible; both preclinical and clinical research (not trials) are supported.
This opportunity funds research projects that accelerate drug discovery and therapeutic development for hearing restoration following military-relevant auditory system injury. The program specifically encourages studies that address the repair, regeneration, or improved diagnosis of sensory, neural, synaptic, or central auditory dysfunction. Projects may be preclinical or clinical research (but not clinical trials) and must align with at least one of the FY26 Hearing Restoration Research Program (HRRP) focus areas. The award offers two funding levels to support research at different stages of maturity, including an option for collaborative applications with two partnering principal investigators (PIs).
