This opportunity supports the establishment of a national Heart Transplantation Research Network, led by the American Heart Association (AHA), to transform heart transplantation care in the United States. The program aims to address critical challenges in heart transplant treatment by building a collaborative network of clinician investigators from leading institutions. The initiative is structured around three pillars: developing a comprehensive, harmonized national heart transplant data infrastructure; launching a research network focused on breakthrough science (including rejection detection, remote monitoring, viral load surveillance, and novel therapies); and building a scalable quality improvement framework to standardize care, reduce disparities, and improve outcomes.
The AHA seeks applications from institutions interested in serving as either a participating center or the Coordinating Center. The Coordinating Center will be responsible for administrative leadership, data harmonization, and knowledge mobilization across the network. All awardees will utilize the AHA’s Precision Medicine Platform for secure data analysis and collaboration.
