The Shared Instrumentation Grant (SIG) Program provides funding to purchase or upgrade a single, high-priced, specialized, commercially available research instrument or integrated instrumentation system. The program is designed to enhance the research capabilities of groups of NIH-supported investigators by enabling access to state-of-the-art equipment that is otherwise unaffordable for individual labs. Instruments must be dedicated to research use only and are expected to be housed in a core facility or shared resource to maximize access and impact.
Supported instruments include, but are not limited to:
Standalone computer systems are eligible only if dedicated solely to biomedical research.
