Description
UK Research and Innovation’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) supports investment in high-performance computing hardware as the UK’s national computing provision changes. Proposals must provide CPU resources addressing an identified need within EPSRC’s remit, enable engineering and physical sciences communities to exploit GPU architectures for world-leading research, or deliver both outcomes. The opportunity responds to a likely medium-term CPU capacity shortfall and the need to help users transition to GPU computing.
Funding supports new systems or expansion of existing resources, alongside operational and user-access support. These one-off investments should complement existing UK computing provision and UKRI digital research infrastructure without duplication. Proposals must identify their user communities and explain unmet needs, integration with the wider computing landscape, value for money, sustainability, equitable access, and secure, resilient operation.
